Leigh Duque,

Leigh Duque was appointed executive director of InterAct in August 2010. With more than 20 years' experience in not-for-profit leadership roles, Duque has a successful track record in fund development and finance, program and property management, marketing and communications, volunteer and staff development, and community-building. Duque formerly served as chief development officer immediately following the merger of two Girl Scout councils to form Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, which now serves more than 42,000 members in 41 central and eastern North Carolina counties. Prior to her tenure at Girl Scouts, Duque served as executive director of the YWCA of the Greater Triangle, where she oversaw an historic re-alignment of programming and resources toward mission-based, community needs-driven priorities. Her broad and deep experience ranges from founding and serving as executive director of an organization which enhances and enriches the quality of life for persons receiving services for substance abuse, mental health and developmental disabilities within an 8-parish region of Louisiana, to helping to launch a successful $28 million capital campaign. With deep roots in North Carolina, Leigh is a graduate of East Carolina University. She and her husband reside in Wake County and are the proud parents of four adult daughters and four grandchildren, all three and under. |

Kathy Johnson,

Kathryn Johnson is a North Carolina Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Marriage
and Family Therapy.
She has worked with InterAct, Wake County's Family Violence Prevention Center for
the past 12 years, and is currently the Interim Executive Director of the agency.
During her tenure at InterAct, she has held the positions of Shelter Children's
Counselor, Shelter Children's Program Coordinator, Assistant Shelter Director,
Shelter Director, Associate Executive Director and Interim/Acting Executive Director.
Prior to working at InterAct, Kathy served as Weekend Shelter Manager at the Pitt County
Family Violence Prevention Center (New Directions), in Greenville, North Carolina. She
has also worked as a Child Mental Health Clinician at a private, for-profit agency,
and has experience in working as a family therapist for patients and families in
recovery from substance abuse at an alcohol and drug treatment center in Greenville,
North Carolina. |
